"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever." - Jacques Cousteau
Beth and I spent a few days at La Push Washington again this December. We enjoyed our cozy cabin during the high winds and rain; and the sun came out each day for a great hike down the beach.
Bill and I paddled from Port Hardy to Winter Harbor. We encountered bears, whales, wolves, sea lions, sea otters, eagles... We experienced conditions ranging from flat water to currents, winds, and 2 meter swell reflecting off vertical walls. We had some sunshine, some fog, lots of rain, and had a fantastic trip!
Beth and I spent a few days at La Push Washington in December. We experineced high winds, horizontal rain, and big waves. Such a magnificant place anytime of the year. This bouy washed up on First Beach.
Beth and I drove up past Victoria, BC and then endured a 60 plus mile drive on a logging road to get to Bamfeild on the southwest side of Vancouver Island. The drive was well worth it!
Beth and I paddled from north of Bellingham over to the South end of Lummi Island for the night, and in the morning crossed over to Clark Island and spent several wonderful days relaxing in the sun.
Beth and I, and our close friend Bill spent two weeks paddling in Haida Gwaii. We drove 1,000 miles from Everett, Washington to Prince George, Vancouver BC. Then we took an 8 hour ferry 60 miles to Queen Charlotte Island, a short drive to a 15 minute ferry, an hour drive on a dirt road, and finally an outfitter with a zodiac took us just over 100 miles to the south end of Haida Gwaii and dropped us off. We then spent two weeks paddling over 100 miles, experiencing one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.
